70 Pounds Plus...
I am happy to say that Rocky was weighed again today (2/6/07), coming in at just over 70 pounds. In essence, through a great deal of work (and food), we've doubled his body weight. Needless to say, Rocky is happy about that. While at the vet's office for his routine check-up, we decided to run a few other tests as well...
After some x-rays and some physical therapy (yeah, he's got a physical therapist now), the vets felt comfortable with his muscles and joints and now have a better idea of his heartworm condition. Most also feel that he may be a bit younger than we'd first thought... consensus now is that he's around 3 years old. Of course, you'd think he was 6 months old by the way he plays!
So, what's next for Rocky? Well, it's about time to get him out in the public. The Humane Society plans to finish putting weight on him, and will then enroll him in some training (most likely in March). If all goes well, he'll make his official debut at the Humane Society's River Dog Film Festival, an annual fundraiser to be held this year on April 21st.
Thank You!
The Humane Society and Rocky would like to thank all of our supporters as well as those who've worked hands on to help. We've received a very positive response to the Save Rocky! campaign. Our goal is to generate awareness about animal cruelty and to educate people on how to help fight it. All contributions to Save Rocky! go into the Timmons Fund and are used exclusively to fight animal cruelty. Thanks for reading... and remember, Animal Cruelty Bites!
