Ready for Pet Soup!?
Like Harvest Hope says, hunger doesn't discriminate. That's why we created Pet Soup!. We know that times are tough all around, and we know that there is no more common form of animal abuse than simple neglect. Most importantly, we know after years of investigating animal cruelty that such neglect is not frequently due to malice. Instead, it's due to one simple thing... access to adequate information and basic care. Enter Pet Soup!.
Food is a pretty basic thing for people and for pets. And since a lot of people have pets, what better way to help them help their pets by providing the basic ingredients for care. Simply put, Pet Soup! is a food bank for pets established by the Humane Society in conjunction with Harvest Hope Food Bank. So, why are we so excited about this project? Because it will begin on Friday, November 7th!
A Howlin' Success!
Thanks goes to all of our generous supporters, to Blue Cross Blue Shield for sponsoring us, to the various organizations that work with us each day, and to our dedicated staff... not only did we break 1,000 surgeries again in a single month, October witnessed 250 free surgeries and a food drive that raised over 1,200 cans of food for Harvest Hope Food Bank! That's right, thanks to our first annual Howlin' for Halloween
spay/neuter promotion, the HSPCA was able to offer free sugeries while supporting a fantastic community partner. Due to successes like Howlin' for Halloween, we're fast approaching 9,000 surgeries this calendar year... want to help us reach this goal? Consider supporting our efforts by sponsoring a surgery...
Profile of Jennifer & Brian St. John
The HSPCA wants to recognize Jennifer & Brian St. John as a host couple for our spring fund raiser, Howl Rollers. Jennifer and Brian were avid supporters during 2008's Mane Event and have reached out again to help the HSPCA achieve its mission of ending pet overpopulation and animal cruelty. Not only do they have a house full of animal pals, Brian recently stepped up to the plate and joined the Board of Directors of the HSPCA. That's commitment worth recognizing!
